To Smile with White Teeth…
15 August 2023No matter how well you take care of your teeth, your bad habits can still damage them. What are your bad habits that damage your teeth?
Using a baby bottle
Giving your baby fruit juice, milk or formula formula with a bottle at bedtime can invite tooth decay. For this reason, if you give your baby liquid before going to bed at night, try to ensure that he/she does not sleep with the bottle in his/her mouth.
Teeth grinding
Teeth grinding caused by stress and sleep habits damages your teeth over time and causes pain. You can get rid of the pain by avoiding hard foods during the day and using protective appliances at night.
Chewing gummy candy
All sugary foods, especially chewing gum, encourage tooth decay because it is chewed longer.
Using teeth to open bottle caps
Do not try to open bottle caps or plastic packaging with your teeth. This wrong habit can cause cracks in your teeth.
Consuming too much sports drinks and fruit juices
Since sports drinks have energising properties, the sugar content in them is usually high. These drinks create acid attack on tooth enamel. If you consume such drinks frequently, your teeth will decay faster. Although fruit juice contains many vitamins and antioxidants together, unfortunately, most of them contain sugar. Therefore, instead of ready-made fruit juices, consume freshly squeezed fruit juices in season. You can also reduce the sugar content by adding water.
Frequent snacking
Snacking too often leaves food residues on your teeth and causes the formation of bacterial plaque, which accelerates decay.
Chewing a pencil
If you chew the heads of the pens during work stress or when you are busy, you may be seriously damaging your teeth.
Coffee and cigarette smoking
If you drink a lot of coffee, your teeth may become discoloured and yellow over time. If you are concerned about the discolouration of your teeth, talk to your dentist. Other tobacco products, such as cigarettes, can also stain your teeth and cause gum disease. Tobacco use is also one of the most important causes of oral cancer.
Eating Disorder Problems
Especially if your sweet consumption is too high, you may face tooth decay problems. In addition, if you have eating disorder problems such as bulimia, constant vomiting erodes your teeth due to the strong acids in the vomit and causes bad breath.
Crunching seeds
When snapping kernels, kernel residues can get stuck in the interfaces and damage teeth and gums
